Fibromyalgia Diet: Breakfast Most Important

Forsyth County, Alpharetta-Cumming Chiropractor and Fibromyalgia Doctor Comments:

180px-SausageBiscuit1I’ve been treating Fibromyalgia for the past 17 years and it is common to hear my patients reveal that they either skip breakfast altogther or run out for a high fat fast food meal.

I found a great article from the British Journal of Nutrition, Sept 2007… about kids, obesity and the importance of a good breakfast.

Here’s an excerpt:

Serving kids a breakfast with a low glycemic index (GI) may make them less hungry during the day and lead to a lower total caloric intake.  During a recent study, kids were alternately given a low-GI breakfast (such as oatmeal, whole-grain breads, etc.) on some days and a high-GI breakfast on others.  Over the remainder of the day after eating the low-GI breakfast, the children consumed 60 fewer calories.  60 calories may not seem like much, but remember no one becomes obese overnight.

My Take: Whether your young or old… whether you suffer from chronic pain or not… breakfast is the most important meal of the day because your breaking the “fast” during the 6-8 hours of sleep.  If this study proved beneficial for children… we can expect a similar response in adults. This is good advice.
