Follow This One Exercise Rule For Super Benefits and to Decrease Chronic Pain

Forsyth County, Alpharetta-Cumming Chiropractor and Chronic Pain-Fibromyalgia Doctor Comments:

Health2I’ve been treating chronic pain and consulting patients on Fitness and Exercise for the past 17 years here at South Forsyth Chiropractic in the Alpharetta-Cumming area.

I found a great article from Herman Kabat, MD, PhD that reveals a workout/fitness secret that will propel your workout and help achieve quicker goals!

Here’s an excerpt:

When working out, remember:  anterior muscles work opposite posterior muscles, left lateral muscles work opposite right lateral muscles, and left rotation muscles work opposite right rotation muscles.

The best way to remember this is the position of walking.  Example:  If you are strengthening your right bicep you should contract your left tricep isometrically.  The right bicep will contract 10-20% more!  Try it.

My Take:  This same principle applies to pain and biomechanics in the body.  For instance… if you have sacro-illiac pain (in the buttocks)… the anterior muscles are weak (the hip flexors) as well as the opposite shoulder.  Just remember, your body is constantly compensating.
